FINAL FANTASY XIV

Final Fantasy XIV met en scène le monde d'Ætherys, et plus précisément la région d'Éorzéa. Cette dernière abrite plusieurs cités-États qui maintiennent des relations plus ou moins ambigües : unies dans une même croyance religieuse, certaines sont parfois en conflit. Le jeu prend place alors qu'un empire conquérant menace Éorzéa et compte bien profiter des dissensions entre les cités. D'autres entités politiques plus secondaires sont présentes, comme les tribus des hommes bêtes dont certaines attaquent continuellement les forces ou civils des cités-États. Les Héritiers de la septième aube, une faction alliée du guerrier de la lumière, ont également une influence assez forte dans le monde d'Éorzéa. Ses membres ont été formés dans la cité de Sharlayan qui est composée principalement d'érudits. Cette cité est située au nord-ouest d'Éorzéa, derrière les montagnes, et on ne sait quasiment rien d'elle. Une coalition des quatre premières cités listées appelée « Alliance éorzéenne » s'est formée pour affronter l'invasion garlemaldaise, mais la cité d'Ishgard a brusquement abandonné ses alliés avant l'affrontement de Mor Dhona.
